Lobelia pendula

An excellent plant for the cottage garden. Named for the botanist who was a physician to King James I of England. With bronze-green foliage and stunning deep blue flowers with white eyes, this is the perfect window-box plant. 4 in. tall, great for edgings, walks and borders. This is a wonderful compact little plant that is covered in a cloud of joyful coloured flowers. Ideal for hanging baskets and containers.

Notes: Do not cover seeds or cover very lightly as light is needed for germination. Likes alternating day and night temperatures of 13 to 23° C respectively for best germination. Germination can be slow or erratic - do not be hasty in discarding the sowing pots. It is sun-tolerant but will also grow in partial shade. It needs constantly moist, well-mulched and well-drained soil. In colder climates provide protection against prolonged cold and dampness. Small seeds.
